Common questions

What rate do Indian credit cards charge?

Commonly 3 to 3.75 per cent a month, which is 42 to 45 per cent a year, plus GST on the interest. It is the most expensive borrowing most households ever do.

What is wrong with paying the minimum?

The minimum is usually about 5 per cent of the balance. On a large balance it barely covers the interest, so the debt hardly moves while the card keeps charging - which is exactly what this calculator shows when it says the balance never clears.
